Officers from the Modara Police Station have arrested a man with 27 counterfeit Rs. 5000 notes in his possession.
The arrest was made while inspecting a suspicious person at Rockhouse Lane in Modara on Saturday (15), the police said.
The suspect is a resident of Ratnapura and has been handed over to the Counterfeit Currency Bureau of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigations.
The Police further requests the general public to be cautious about fraudsters who try to introduce fake currency to the market during this festive season. (NewsWire)
