Fuel Quota: New update from Energy Ministry

April 25, 2023 at 1:08 PM

The Ministry of Power and Energy has decided not to revise the fuel quota that was amended in view of the April festive season.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry stated that the fuel quota that was increased in April will remain unchanged.

At present, a fuel quota of 30 litres has been allocated for cars, special purpose vehicles, and land vehicles, 08 litres for three-wheelers, 7 litres for motorcycles, and 60 litres for buses.

The Ministry further stated that during a review meeting held under the patronage of subject minister Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday, it was found that the change in the fuel quotas has not affected the monthly fuel demand.

Data has proven that the change in fuel quotas has not affected the daily fuel distribution and is similar to that prior to the revision of fuel quotas in April, the Ministry stated.

The Ministry also revealed that the increase in fuel quota has resulted in a decrease in the misuse of QR codes and the public has now fallen into the practice of using the QR code to purchase fuel. (NewsWire)
