A 15-year-old girl has died after being hit by a train plying from Matara to Galle between the Nupe railway crossing and Pamburana Railway Station in Matara last evening.
The Police stated that the deceased is a resident of Bentotagewatte, Hitthetiya and a Grade 11 student of the Hitthetiya Dharmaraja Vidyalaya.
Investigations have revealed that she had been hit by the train while walking along the railway tracks along with two other friends after having attended a musical show.
The Matara Police is conducting investigations into the accident. (NewsWire)
