3 murders have been reported around the country in the last 24 hours, the police said.
The police said that a 49-year-old man had been killed allegedly by his brother-in-law in Ambagahapalassa area in Hasalaka Police division.
The suspect had reportedly stabbed the victim due to a personal dispute. Police have arrested the suspect and are conducting further investigations
Another murder was reported on Saturday from the Mihintale Police division where a 51-year-old woman was reported killed.
Police say that the victim was allegedly raped by a 47-year-old man living in a nearby village, before killing her. Suspect has been arrested and Police are conducting further investigations.
A 32-year-old man has been reportedly stabbed and killed by his younger bother due to a long standing dispute.
The murder has taken place in Wellawaya Police division on Saturday night.
Police say that the victim succumbed to his injuries after admitting to the Monaragala hospital. Police further said that the victim has been arrested along with the knife used to commit the crime. (NewsWire)
