Three suspects who had been arrested over the death of a 16-year-old girl in Kalutara have been remanded.
The suspects, a couple and a male, have been remanded until May 15 after being produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The deceased, who is a grade 11 student at a school in Kalutara, is reported to have met up with a group of male and female friends at a hotel in Kalutara on Saturday (May 06).
Investigations have revealed that a couple had initially left the room in which the group had met, after which another male was seen leaving the room in an agitated state.
He is reported to have reached out to the couple that left the hotel room earlier, questioning why the deceased had jumped from the third floor of the hotel, after which he had fled the area.
The hotel authorities had later been informed by a guest of a body of a woman lying on the railway tracks by the hotel premises, after which the Police were informed of the incident.
Police investigations have revealed that one suspect had fled the area, while the other couple had removed the deceased’s body from the railway track and had reported to the Police station at 09.30 pm on the day of the incident. (NewsWire)
