Showers are expected in a few provinces of Sri Lanka today, the Department of Meteorology stated.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the Eastern, Northcentral and Uva provinces and in the Trincomalee district during the evening or night.
A few showers may occur in the Western coastal areas and in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning too.
Meanwhile, showers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly over the sea area around the island and speed will be 20-30 kmph.
Wind speed may increase up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough at times.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle will be fairly rough.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
