An individual who had stolen 20 coconuts has been sentenced to 1 year of rigorous imprisonment suspended for 10 years.
The suspect, who is a father of one, is reported to have stolen the coconuts from an estate in the Kehel-ella area in Diwulapitiya.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect had stolen the coconuts, valued at Rs. 1200 per coconut, in January 2021.
The sentencing was issued by the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court when the case was taken up for hearing yesterday (May 25). (NewsWire)
