Former Minister and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian Wimalaweera Dissanayake has slammed several ministers for having forgotten the importance of the SLPP.

Addressing the media yesterday, MP Dissanayake stated that some ministers who were elected to Parliament through the SLPP have now forgotten their beginnings.

“They were elected due to the support of the Rajapaksas. However, now they have forgotten this and are accusing the Rajapaksas of corruption. They are claiming that this is the end for the Rajapaksas. It is not good to fall into such a state,” he said.

MP Dissanayake stated that even though he had worked hard for the success of the SLPP over the last five years, today he was just an MP in Parliament seated alone amidst the ruling party.

“I do not have an issue with the President, Prime Minister, or some members of the Cabinet. However, there are some Cabinet Ministers who have been appointed even without contesting an election or winning sufficient votes. I have an issue with such persons,” he added.

Stating that the SLPP formed the government, including the incumbent government, and holds a majority in Parliament, MP Wimalaweera Dissanayake stated that the SLPP must be respected and given its due rights.
