Lyca’s Jaffna Kings owner Allirajah Subaskaran met Lanka Premier League Chief Promoter Anil Mohan in Colombo, confirming their support for the Lanka Premier League 2023.

Allirajah Subaskaran, the founder and chairman of the UK-based Lyca Group of companies, has been diversifying the group’s businesses in the South Asian region, with a strong presence in India and Sri Lanka. In 2021, he acquired the Jaffna franchise of the Lanka Premier League and has been a key stakeholder in the league ever since.

The Jaffna Kings have proven to be the most successful franchise in the Lanka Premier League, winning the league in all three seasons.

Anil Mohan, Chairman and Owner of The IPG Group, the official promoter of the Lanka Premier League, praised Subaskaran’s exceptional support, stating, ‘Allirajah Subaskaran has been an exceptional supporter of cricket and the Lanka Premier League. His unwavering commitment and immense support have played a pivotal role in the development and success of the league. We are grateful for his contributions and dedication towards promoting cricket in Sri Lanka.’

The upcoming season of the Lanka Premier League, scheduled for 2023, will introduce an auction for the first time in the league’s history, making it only the third cricket league globally to incorporate an auction system.

The auction is set to take place on June 14th at the Shangri-La ballroom in Colombo.

The tournament itself is scheduled to be held from July 30th to August 20th this year and is expected to showcase high-quality cricket matches among various franchises, including the successful Jaffna Kings.

It is anticipated to attract significant viewership both locally and internationally. (NewsWire)
