Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Dr Harsha de Silva has been appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance (COPF).
According to reports, MP Harsha de Silva was appointed as proposed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The appointment comes months after the MP had accused the Communications Department of Parliament of refusing to officially announce his appointment as the Chairman of the COPF.
In February, MP de Silva announced that he had been removed from the post of COPF Chairman despite his name having been proposed and approved.
During the controversy, the government announced that SJB MP Mayantha Dissanayake has been appointed as the new Chair of the COPF.
The matter was raised in Parliament by the opposition on several occasions.
Now, MP Harsha de Silva has once again been appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance. (NewsWire)
