Historic ODI series win for SL women against New Zealand

Sri Lanka women recorded their first-ever ODI series win against New Zealand, winning the three-match ODI series 2-1.

Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Attapattu steered the team to victory in the third ODI match played in Galle today.

Chamari Attapattu, who scored a century in the first ODI, contributed 140 runs in 80 balls this time around, supported by Nilakshi de Silva who scored 48 runs in 68 balls.

Leah Tahuhu and Sophie Devine picked up the only two wickets for New Zealand.

Earlier, New Zealand Women won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a target of 127 for 2 in 31 overs.

While New Zealand’s Bernadine Bezuidenhout was run out by Kavisha Dilhari, Sri Lanka’s Oshadie Ranasinghe picked up the other wicket. (NewsWire)
