On Friday, July 14, the Court of Appeal issued an interim order to halt the implementation of the Sports Minister’s gazette notification that suspended the activities of Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) and its chairman, Rizly Illyas.
The Appeals Court President, Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne, and Justice A. Marikkar issued the interim order, preventing the enforcement of the aforementioned gazette notification.
Today, the Appeals Court bench heard a writ application filed by the chairman of Sri Lanka Rugby, and they ordered that the interim order remain in effect until the conclusion of the petition hearing.
The judge bench stated that they anticipate delivering the verdict on the writ application within three months.
In the meantime, the Sports Minister and other respondents named in the petition have been requested to submit their objections by July 25. (NewsWire)
