Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.
He is the eldest son of General Hamilton Wanasinghe.
General Hamilton Wanasinghe served as Commander of the Sri Lanka Army from 1981 to 1991.
He had also served as the Joint Operations Commander and the Secretary of Defence.
