An individual who had illegally entered and travelled on the Southern Expressway on a motorcycle has been taken into Police custody.
The suspect who had arrived on the Kalutara – Mathugama Road had entered the expressway through the Dodamgoda entry point towards Matara and had attempted to travel towards Welipenne.
A group of Police officers who had chased behind the suspect had later arrested him while on the highway.
The Police stated that the suspect was found to be heavily intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
The suspect has been identified as a resident of Mathugama.
He has been handed over to the Dodamgoda Police to be produced before the Mathugama Magistrate’s Court. (NewsWire)
