Popular English teacher Sakvithi Ranasinghe and his wife have pleaded guilty to the financial misappropriation of nearly Rs. 164,185,000 via an unauthorized financial institution.
The couple pleaded guilty before the Colombo High Court when the amended charge sheet filed by the Attorney General was taken up for hearing today (July 19).
They had agreed before Colombo High Court Justice Aditya Patabendige to pay the relevant amount in twenty monthly instalments of Rs.5 million each, also agreeing to settle the first instalment today.
Sakvithi Ranasinghe and his wife are accused of having defrauded Rs. 164,185,000 that was deposited to their company, Sakvithi Construction Company, which was operated in Nugegoda from January 2006 to September 2008. (NewsWire)
