Employees of Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses belonging to several depots today launched a strike action over an incident of assault.
According to Lankadeepa, the strike has been launched by employees attached to the Dambulla, Anuradhapura, Kekirawa, Horowpathana, Polonnaruwa, Kebithigollewa, and Kantale bus depots.
The strike action is carried out to protest the alleged assault of a Depot Inspector of the Horowpathana SLTB depot.
The Depot Inspector is reported to have been taken away by a private bus and allegedly assaulted.
The sudden strike has caused severe inconvenience to the public attempting to travel to work and carry out day-to-day activities. (NewsWire)
