The Police have used water cannons to disperse a protest march carried out by the Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF) today.
The Police took action to disperse the protesters in the Kirulapone and Town Hall areas this afternoon.
The IUSF protest is being staged over several demands, including objecting to allowing three private universities to grant medical degrees, and matters related to the proposed Labour Law, Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), and International Monetary Fund (IMF) proposals.
Earlier today, the Fort and Maligakanda Courts had issued orders prohibiting the protesters’ entry to certain parts of Colombo. (NewsWire)
