The “Invest Sri Lanka” Investor Forum, which was organized by the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in association with the Confederation of the Indian Industry (CII), was concluded successfully at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai, on August 11, 2023.
According to the CSE, the forum made a strong case for investment flows into Sri Lanka and witnessed a strong turnout of over 120 prospective investors from Mumbai. The State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe was the keynote speaker at the forum.
The Sri Lankan delegation, including the Chairman of the CSE, senior representatives of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), and representatives from 16 Stockbroker Firms, collectively pitched for further investment flows into Sri Lanka, a call that was also boosted by strong endorsements for investment in Sri Lanka by the CII.
The forum featured a prominent line-up of speakers, including Co-Chairman, CII WR Committee on Innovation, R&D and Digitalization and Founder and CEO, IRIS Business Services, Mr. S. Swaminathan, Chairman, CSE, Mr. Dilshan Wirasekara, Director General, SEC, Mr. Chinthaka Mendis and Director of Research, CBSL, Dr. P.K.G. Harischandra, spoke about the Sri Lankan Economy and the Capital Market. A technical session on the Sri Lankan Stock Market outlook and sector performances was carried out by the Sri Lankan Stockbroking firms, by the Director/ Head of Research, Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd, Mr. Shehan Cooray, Head of Research, CT CLSA Securities (Pvt) Ltd., Mr. Oshadha De Vas Gunasekara and Chief Research and Chief Economist and Strategist, Asia Securities (pvt) Ltd., Mr. Sanjeewa Fernando.
The Q&A session where the State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe, CSE Chairman, Mr. Dilshan Wirasekara, SEC Director General, Mr. Chinthaka Mendis, CBSL Director of Research, Dr. P.K.G. Harischandra, and CSE CEO, Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike, joined as the moderator, turned out to be an interactive session with active audience participation.
