A Ukrainian woman arrested for hacking into three accounts of a private bank and fraudulently withdrawing nearly Rs.13.7 million has been granted bail.
According to Daily News, the suspect was granted bail by Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya yesterday (Aug. 17).
The Ukrainian woman’s husband who is the chief suspect in the robbery has been remanded.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) informed Court that the suspects had accessed the bank accounts without permission.
The CID further stated that the suspect had then withdrawn money from the accounts and deposited it in the pyramid scam accounts that belonged to the Ukrainian woman on two occasions.
Granting bail to the Ukrainian woman, the Magistrate further banned her from travelling overseas and also ordered two bails of Rs.10,000,000 each. (NewsWire)
