In a significant setback for the Bangladesh cricket team, their star batter Najmul Hossain Shanto has been ruled out of the remainder of the Asia Cup 2023 due to a hamstring injury.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed this unfortunate development, stating that Shanto will be returning home immediately to commence his rehabilitation. The decision to sideline Shanto was made with a keen eye on the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.

Shanto’s absence from the Asia Cup Super 4 round will undoubtedly be deeply felt by the team, as he had been a key figure in their lineup scoring 89 runs against Sri Lanka and a hundred against Afghanistan.

Najmul Hossain Shanto’s remarkable form in the ongoing Asia Cup had made him a pivotal player for Bangladesh. His consistent batting performances had been a beacon of hope for the team, and his absence will undoubtedly leave a void in the batting order. The injury has come at a particularly unfortunate time, as Bangladesh was relying on Shanto’s outstanding form to carry them through the rest of the tournament.

To address the absence of their star player, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has called up Litton Das as Shanto’s replacement. Das will be tasked with filling the considerable void left by Shanto and contributing to Bangladesh’s efforts in the Asia Cup 2023.
