September 20, 2023 at 1:47 PM

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) selection committee headed by Pramodya Wickremesinghe met at the SLC today to finalize the Sri Lanka Squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Selectors were expected to make some key decisions during the meeting, including the decision on whether or not to continue with Dasun Shanaka as captain due to his poor batting form, although he has done well as the skipper.

Sri Lanka Cricket has not yet made any statement regarding the World Cup squad.

Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan are the only teams yet to announce the respective squads for the World Cup.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given a deadline until September 28 to name or change the teams.

With the Sri Lanka team expected to leave for India on the 26th of this month, the Sri Lanka squad might be named anytime prior to their departure.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Selectors are still awaiting the final status of Star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga who has suffered another injury scare while undergoing rehabilitation. (NewsWire)
