Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe has said that the Government is taking measure to lift import restrictions on all currently restricted items, excluding private vehicles, starting October.
The State Minister added that Foreign remittances, which was a major concern has increased to an acceptable level and foreign reserves are steadily becoming stable to manage essential imports.
Shehan Semasinghe further said that the relaxation of private vehicle import restrictions will be considered once foreign exchange reserves increase post debt restructuring and government revenue increases.
