A Police officer attached to the Traffic Unit of the Cinnamon Gardens Police has been injured after being run over by a luxury car this evening, it was reported.
According to media reports, the accident took place at the roundabout near the CCC Grounds while the car was travelling towards Independence Square from the Nelumpokuna Theater in Colombo.
The luxury car is reported to have run over the Police Officer who was engaged in traffic duty at the site and had collided with the fountain in the middle of the roundabout.
It is assumed that the driver of the car had driven in a reckless manner causing the accident.
The injured Police Officer, a resident of Walasmulla, is reported to have sustained serious injuries in the accident and has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. (NewsWire/ Pics- Accident1st)
