The government has decided to provide compensation of Rs. 500,000 to each of the families of the victims who lost their lives in the tragic accident that occurred near Liberty roundabout in Colpetty today.
Five passengers were killed and at least 10 others were injured after a tree fell on the bus which was en route from Colombo to Matugama this morning.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), President Ranil Wickremesinghe has issued directives to his Secretary Saman Ekanayaka to facilitate a compensation of Rs. 500,000 to each of the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.
As per the President’s directives, the compensation is to be provided by the Ministry of Transport and the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB). (NewsWire)
