A wanted suspect has been injured after being shot by the Police in Point Pedro in Jaffna.
According to the Police, the suspect, who is over 27 years old, was apprehended after being shot during a raid conducted to arrest him in the Alwai area in Point Pedro.
The Police had resorted to shooting the suspect as the latter had attempted to attack the Police Officers in a bid to escape.
The suspect who was admitted to the Point Pedro Hospital after being shot has been transferred to the Jaffna Hospital for further treatment.
The Police stated that the suspect is wanted in connection to several robberies and incidents of sword attacks in Jaffna.
