
Heavy rains are expected in some parts of Sri Lanka in the afternoon or night today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected at some places in the Uva, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern provinces.
Showers may occur in coastal areas of the southern province during the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the sea areas around the island.
Winds will be southerly and speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar will be moderate.
