The government has issued a Gazette notification declaring three key sectors as essential services.
The Gazette issued by the Secretary to the President is effective from Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
As per the Gazette, electricity, petroleum, and health services have been declared as essential services.
The Gazette states, “All services connected to the supply of electricity, the supply or distribution of petroleum products and fuel, and all service, work or labour, of any description whatsoever, necessary or required to be done in connection with the maintenance, and the reception, care feeding, and treatment, of patients in hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries, and other similar institutions are declared an essential public service.”
