Weather forecast for today :
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of Sri Lanka after 02.00 p.m. Heavy showers of about 100mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces and the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Showers will occur in the Eastern, North-Central and Northwestern provinces and the Matale and Badulla districts in the morning.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota via Batticaloa. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other sea areas around the Island, particularly during the afternoon or night. Winds will be North-easterly or variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-25 kmph. The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
Flood warning :
Water levels of the Attanagalu Oya and Nilwala rivers are on the rise due to the recent heavy showers experienced in the country. The Irrigation Department has issued flood warnings to several areas in the vicinity of the rivers. Area residents have been requested to remain vigilant. (NewsWire)
