On Saturday afternoon, Sri Lanka, like Bangladesh did on Friday, canceled their training session in Delhi due to severe air pollution, following advice from their team doctors.

The two teams are set to play their World Cup league match in Delhi on Monday.

With the air quality index (AQI) exceeding 400, an ICC spokesperson informed ESPNcricinfo that the situation was under constant monitoring. “The ICC and our hosts, the BCCI, prioritize the well-being of all participants and are closely monitoring the air quality in Delhi,” they stated. “We are consulting experts to assess the situation.”

It is understood that on match day, Monday, the match officials will consider air pollution in the same way they assess weather conditions when deciding if the conditions are suitable for play.

According to the Indian government agency’s Air Quality Tracking Warning system, the AQI is expected to remain in the severe category until Tuesday, November 7.
