Former Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu has questioned the expert knowledge of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) executive committee, to analyze any report requested from the Sri National team coaching staff.
Speaking during a cricket talk show hosted by a television channel, Marvan questioned SLC’s move to call for a special report, seeking explanation from the Coaching staff and the selectors, following the poor performance of the national team.
“As per my knowledge, separate reports have been requested from the team manager and the coach. My question is, to whom does these reports go to ? This goes to the hands of the executive committee. How will they evaluate a report received from a person like Mahela Jayawardena? Who’s the Cricket expert there?” He questioned.
“If they are the ones who selected the head coach, and if it was them who selected Mahela Jayawardana above him (as Consultant), now if they are finding fault with him, it doesn’t make sense to me” he further said.
