Several former Sri Lankan cricketers have reportedly requested Sri Lanka Cricket officials to file a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the conduct of the umpires during Angelo Mathews’ controversial timeout dismissal.

According to broadcaster footage, it has now been established that Angelo Mathews was at the crease on time before his helmet strap broke.

After the incident, the fourth umpire of the game, Adrian Holdstock, announced that Angelo Mathews didn’t arrive at his crease within the stipulated 2-minute time limit, even before his helmet broke.

Several former Sri Lankan cricketers have asked Sri Lanka Cricket to intervene in the matter, as it’s now proven that the umpires made significant errors during the incident.

Former Sri Lankan cricketers have also requested Sri Lanka Cricket to urge the ICC to investigate whether it was umpire Marais Erasmus who influenced the Bangladesh cricketer to make an appeal against Angelo Mathews.

The International Cricket Council has not yet made any statements regarding the incident after it was pointed out that Angelo Mathews was on time to the crease, contrary to the statement made by the ICC fourth umpire. (NewsWire)
