Showers may occur in Northern and Eastern provinces and in the Puttalam district during the morning.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in several places around the island’s sea areas. Winds direction is North-Easterly in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai, and Variable in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
Flood warnings:
The water levels of the Maha Oya have risen further due to heavy rains experienced in the area. Major flood warnings have been issued to the Alawwa, Mirigama, Divulapitiya, Pannala, Wennappuwa, Negombo, Katana, and Dankotuwa Divisional Secretariat areas. Roads around Giriulla town are submerged as the Maha Oya has flooded the area. Heavy traffic congestion is also reported in the area. (NewsWire)
