Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe has been sacked from his ministerial portfolios by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
A letter signed by the President, states Roshan Ranasinghe has been removed from the portfolios of Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, and Minister of Irrigation, with immediate effect.
Roshan Ranasinghe was appointed as the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and Minister of Irrigation under President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s government.
He was appointed to the ministerial portfolios as part of the government that was formed after the anti-government protests in July 2022.
However, the President and Roshan Ranasinghe have been at odds as of late over the crisis related to the sport of cricket and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
The removal comes after Roshan Ranasinghe earlier today accused the President of attempting to frame him, due to exposing corruption related to the sport of cricket in Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
