Newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deshabandu Tennakoon has assured that dealing with national security will be at the top of his priority list.
Stating that he has undertaken various designations with the Sri Lanka Police over the last 25 years, the Acting IGP said he will take forward the Police service keeping in mind the benefit for the people of Sri Lanka.
“The first on my priority list is national security. The second priority is to eliminate the drug situation in this country, as it has spread all over, including in villages and among school children,” he said.
Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon pointed out that this was a big priority and that he has a program in this regard, which he hopes to implement soon.
He further said that he also intends to take measures against threats from underworld gangs and extortion attempts.
