Two suspects have been arrested for having assaulted a Bangladeshi woman in the middle of a main road in Colombo to snatch her gold chain.
According to media reports, the woman who is a doctor had been attacked near a hotel in Kirulapone.
Video footage shows one suspect severely assaulting the woman on the pavement and thereafter on the middle of the main road.
The incident had come to light after the victim and her husband, who had left Sri Lanka out of fear, had sent a complaint on the incident via email.
Based on the complaint, the two suspects have been arrested and remanded after being produced in court.
The assault had been caught on the CCTV cameras installed in the area of the incident.
