Over 2000 suspects have been apprehended during an islandwide special operation conducted by the Police Special Task Force (STF) and Air Force within the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today.
According to the Police, the special operation was conducted on the directives of Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.
A total of 2,121 suspects have been apprehended during the special operations, while 133 among them have been sent for rehabilitation.
The suspects include 2,020 males and 101 females. The Police have also obtained detention orders against 12 suspects.
The Police further said 2.2 kilos of heroin, 769 grams of ICE, 178 kilos of Cannabis, 30,550 Cannabis plants, and 3489 narcotic pills were recovered during the special operation. (NewsWire/ Image- file pic)
