Two schoolboys have been arrested for recording videos of sexually abusing young girls, including schoolgirls, and posting them on the internet, it was reported.
According to the Police, the suspects, residents of Kandy, are reported to have sexually abused schoolgirls as well as young girls following higher education courses.
The suspects were arrested following a complaint filed with the Child and Women’s Bureau of the Kandy Police by a 15-year-old girl and her mother.
Investigations have revealed that the victim had been romantically involved with one suspect who had sexually molested her at her residence on multiple occasions during the relationship.
After ending the relationship with the suspect, the victim had once again engaged in a romantic affair with the other suspect who had reached out to her via SMS.
The victim had revealed that the second suspect had taken her to a lodge in Kandy where she was made to consume a drink, after which she had fallen unconscious.
The suspect is said to have undressed her and taken explicit videos which he had sent to the victim, threatening her to revisit the lodge, where she had been sexually abused on multiple occasions.
Investigations have found that the suspect had shared explicit videos of the victim on the internet and among his friends, while it had been found that the suspect had obtained the assistance of the victim’s first boyfriend for this purpose.
Police investigations had also found similar explicit videos of other schoolgirls and young women on the mobile phone of one suspect.
The owner and manager of the lodge used to sexually molest the victim have been apprehended and remanded until December 22, 2023.
The two schoolboys apprehended over the sexual abuse have been remanded until January 01, 2024, after being produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court. (NewsWire)
