A teacher attached to a school in the Walapane Educational Zone in Nuwara Eliya has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing three female students within the school premises, it was reported.
According to Lankadeepa, the Kirthibandara Police said the suspect is a 29-year-old resident of Kithulle in Kandy, while his wife is also a teacher.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the man who was serving as the teacher in charge of the class had maintained a romantic relationship with one victim and through her had allegedly sexually abused the other two students.
The suspect had been arrested based on information received by the Police from the three students.
The Police said the suspect was also found to have forced one victim to send explicit photographs of herself to him via WhatsApp. (NewsWire)
