Much better economic conditions can be expected in Sri Lanka in 2024, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said.

Speaking during an interview with Ada Derana, Dr. Weerasinghe said Sri Lanka is on the right path to recovery.

He further said that the positive growth path will continue from 2023 Q4 into 2024 resulting in the normalizing of the economy this year and an improvement in the livelihoods of the people.

The CBSL Governor warned that there will be challenges such as high taxation imposed on certain sectors which is required to provide relief to those worst affected by the economic crisis.

Stating that better economic conditions can be expected in 2024, Dr. Weerasinghe said Sri Lanka will see low-interest rates, less borrowings by the government, and more resources available for private sectors to do business. (NewsWire)
