Over 1200 suspects have been arrested in the islandwide special operation ‘Yukthiya’ carried out within the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, 1229 suspects have been apprehended by the Police Special Task Force (STF).
The Police also recovered 440g of heroin, 260g of ICE, 15 kilos of cannabis, and 417 narcotic pills.
The islandwide special operation ‘Yukthiya’ was launched on December 17, 2023, to curtail underworld and drug-related activities in Sri Lanka.
A large number of narcotics and illegally obtained assets belonging to underworld leaders and drug lords have been seized by the Police so far. (NewsWire)
