- The prevailing showery conditions are expected to reduce in the Northern, North-central, Uva and Eastern provinces after today. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Eastern and Uva provinces and the Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts. Fairly heavy showers of about 50 mm are likely at some places in the Uva province and Polonnaruwa and Matale districts. Several spells of showers may occur in the Northern province and Anuradhapura district. - The capacity of the Senanayaka Samudraya reached its peak as of 4.00 pm yesterday, causing a spillway discharge thereafter. The public and motorists using the downstream areas of Gal Oya are requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by floods. - All faculties of the South Eastern University in Oluvil, Ampara have been closed until further notice. However, the Applied Sciences faculty will remain open.
