Sri Lanka Police has issued a clarification pertaining to an individual arrested over the leaking of the 2023 GCE Advanced Level Examination Agriculture Science papers to social media.

Issuing a statement, the Police said the suspect was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) based on a complaint.

Stating that a school teacher conducting tuition classes was also apprehended over the matter, the Police said the suspect in question is another individual who was arrested over the incident.

The Police said several media had incorrectly identified him as an office assistant attached to the school, Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya.

Clarifying the suspect’s identity, the Police said the suspect was employed as an office assistant to the Examination Centre set up at the school, and was in no manner linked to the Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya.

The Police further stated that, however, he was employed as an office assistant at another school in Moratuwa.

Following the leaking of papers 1 and 2 of the Agriculture Science subject to social media, the Department of Examinations decided to null the two papers.

The department has taken measures to re-conduct paper 1 and 2 examinations on February 01, 2024. (NewsWire)
