An individual, who was remanded on charges of absconding court on several occasions, has been granted bail for his honeymoon, it was reported.
According to Mawbima, the 24-year-old suspect from Wadduwa had appeared before the court by submitting a motion on January 24, 2024.
Panadura Additional Magistrate Lahiru N. Silva had thereafter, ordered the suspect to be remanded until January 30, 2024.
The suspect’s friend via a lawyer had informed the court that the suspect had reported to court on his request but had been remanded amid his honeymoon.
Providing evidence that the suspect had been recently married and had reported to the court during his honeymoon, the suspect’s lawyer said the wife was still at the hotel and this incident could affect their married life.
Taking into consideration the appeal, the Panadura Additional Magistrate released the suspect on a surety of Rs. 10,000. (NewsWire)
