President Ranil Wickremesinghe visited Kelaniya University today (Jan 31), despite recent protests against his visit.
The President visited the university to declare open the new building at the premises of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at the university this morning.
Students of the Kelaniya University had on Monday staged a protest blocking the Colombo- Kandy Road against the President’s visit to the university.
The Police had resorted to firing tear gas to disperse the students, after which the latter had taken over the administration building and had continued their protest. (NewsWire)
