Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has said that the opposition will not allow to postpone the Presidential Election schedule to be held this year, under the guise of abolishing the Executive Presidency.

“If they are trying to destroy the voting rights of the people, we will not allow it” He said, speaking at an event in Central Colombo on Friday (9).

He further said that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will not get caught to the mischievous motives of the President to extend his term, in the name of abolishing the Executive Presidency.

The opposition leader further said that the SJB is still on the stance that Executive Presidency should be abolished, but it cannot be allowed to destroy the people’s mandate and right to vote, under the guise of abolishing the executive presidential system, and the presidential and general elections to be held in 2024 must also take place.  (NewsWire)
