Popular Sri Lankan actor and Anuradhapura District Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Uddika Premarathna has stepped down from his Parliamentary seat.
Speaker of the Parliament MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has confirmed that MP Uddika Pramaratne has handed over his letter of resignation as a Member of Parliament.
In September 2023, unidentified gunmen opened fire at MP Premaratne’s vehicle near his father’s residence in Anuradhapura.
MP Uddika Premaratne entered Parliament after contesting the 2020 Parliamentary Election under the SLPP representing the Anuradhapura District.
Premaratne, who is a member of the National Freedom Front (NFF) led by MP Wimal Weerwansa, has been acting as an independent MP since last year. (NewsWire)
