Hybrid Renewable Energy systems in 3 Jaffna islands

The agreement for the development of a Hybrid Renewable Energy system in three (03) Islands in Jaffna was signed today, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera announced.

Taking to ‘X’, Minister Wijesekera said the renewable energy project will be implemented under a full financial grant of USD 10.995 million extended by the Government of India.

He further said that accordingly, the Delft, Analativu and Nainativu Islands will receive the hybrid renewable energy system by March 2025. 

The minister added that the project with 530 kw of Wind power, 1700 kw of Solar power, 2400 kwh of Battery power and 2500 kw of stand by diesel power system will be constructed at the three Islands by India’s U Solar Clean Energy Solutions (Pvt) Ltd.
