In a bid to accelerate the digital transformation journey, Colombo is set to host a groundbreaking conference titled “Digital Public Infrastructure: Enable | Empower | Enrich” at the Grand Marquee, Taj Samudra, on March 26, 2024.
Co-organized by the High Commission of India in Colombo, Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Technology, Government of Sri Lanka, this conference promises to be a pivotal event in shaping the future of digital governance and innovation in the region.
The conference aims to explore the transformative potential of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in enabling seamless service delivery, empowering communities through inclusivity, and enriching economies by driving innovation. With a focus on the global scalability of DPI, discussions will be guided by the recently emerged definition in the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, highlighting DPI as a set of shared digital systems built on open technologies to deliver equitable access to public and private services at a societal scale.
Distinguished speakers and panelists, including government officials, industry leaders, academia, and entrepreneurs, will gather to share insights and experiences from India’s success story with DPI, along with global and regional perspectives.
The conference will feature an array of sessions covering topics such as accelerating digital adoption in Sri Lanka, unlocking the digital stack for startups, and fostering multi-stakeholder collaborations for sustainable development. Keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions will provide attendees with valuable opportunities to engage with experts and thought leaders in the field.
While His Excellency the President, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe will deliver the keynote address, highlighting the significance of the event, Dr. Pramod Varma, Co-Chair of the Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI) and former Chief Architect of UIDAI, will deliver a presentation on DPI and India Stack, shedding light on India’s pioneering efforts in this domain.
Additionally, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Group Executive Director and CEO of Telecommunication Business for Axiata Group, will deliver an address on unlocking the digital stack, offering valuable insights into the role of telecommunications in driving digital infrastructure.
The conference will also witness esteemed speakers and other key dignitaries, underlining the importance of digital infrastructure in shaping the future of governance and economic progress.
