- President Ranil Wickremesinghe praised the winning Sri Lankan National Team
President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with the new Sri Lankan National Football Team at the Presidential Secretariat. He praised the efforts of the national team who won the game against Bhutan after ten years.
President encouraged the football’s mission of winning the South Asian Championship ( SAFF ) next year and pledged his support for the development of infrastructure for football in the near future. Football os on the rise in Sri Lanka in the last few months. FFSL has now built a stronger National team including many Sri Lankan decent players who are playing for professional leagues in different parts of the world. Sri Lanka National team won the match against Bhutan in the just concluded FIFA Series 2024.
FFSL President Jaswar Umar, Head Coach Andy Morrission and entire national team players met the President and posed for a photo opportunity.
FFSL President Jaswar Umar presented a customized National Football Jersey to the President Ranil Wickremesinghe as a symbolic gesture of honour to the President.
