Foreign Workers’ Remittances : March figures released

Sri Lanka’s workers’ remittances increased in March 2024 compared to the same period last year. 

According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, workers’ remittances of US$ 572.4 million were reported in March 2024. 

The CBSL said this was an increase compared to the figures recorded a year earlier, in March 2023, which was US$ 568.3 million.

Workers’ remittances of US$ 1,536.1 million were recorded from January to March 2024.

The CBSL said this was also an increase compared to the figures recorded during the same period in 2023, which was US$ 1,413.2 million.

Sri Lanka’s tourism earnings have also increased in March 2024, recording a figure of US$ 338.4 million.

According to the CBSL, this was an increase from the US$ 188.8 million reported in March 2023. 

From January to March this year, Sri Lanka recorded tourism earnings of US$ 1,025.9 million, an increase from the US$ 503.9 million recorded during the same period last year. (Newswire)
